Park Activities
Park Activities
Radisson Blu Park Athens Hotel offers a singular, privileged location. It is situated next to the second largest park in Athens, Pedion Areos, which stretches over 227 acres and includes sporting and leisure facilities.  It is ideal for jogging and walking, cycling and even for a relaxing picnic surrounded by lush greenery.
The park provides walking alleys and a special path for jogging while it is great as the slight inclination of the ground makes the routes ideal for beginners in running.
The Long Route
Route: 1800 metres approximately
Route characteristics: 1/3 of the route is uphill, 1/3 slightly downhill and 1/3 is flat. Most of the pathways are naturally shaded. Just a small part of the route is not protected by the trees and this is the very spot in front of the Statue of Athena.
It is recommended for runners who run long distances and who do not wish to repeat a lot of rounds of smaller routes.
Route Description: Starting from the main street in front of the Statue of King Constantine, then right in front of the Statue of Goddess Athena and afterwards the route follows a large semicircle past the church of Saint Charalambos above Oikonomidis’ square and the Hellenic Military Geographical Service. Finally, it goes past the church of Taxiarches and goes downhill to terminate along the alley of statues.

The Short Route or The Route of recast
Route: 1200 metres
Route Characteristics: The route covers the most beautiful spots of the Park, which have been transformed into fabulous attractions for the visitors after the reconstruction of the Pedion Areos.  Recommended: both for novices and advanced runners
Route Description: The route starts slightly uphill from the main way behind the statue of King Constantine and goes through the marvellous watery route with the planes. It then turns left to the main pedestrian way and after a while it turns right to a small, quiet square with blossomed flowers and the monument of the Sacred Band. Then, the route goes through the rose garden and the small, spiral-shaped river and finally ends downhill in the alley with the busts of National Heroes with the magnificent palm trees.
We attempted to “plan” two indicative routes according to the needs of a runner. You can always plan your own personalized route, of course, or simply wander through the lanes of the park. The only thing that is certain is the fact that you will relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle of the city centre within this splendid oasis of green.

After the restoration of the park, leisurely strolls have become a wonderful activity due to the idyllic setting. From dawn to dusk, you can enjoy a quiet walk wandering through the scenic pathways lined with shrubs and flower beds and through arches of trees far away from the noise of the city. Stroll up and down the picturesque paths with the busts of prominent personalities of Greece, the Nation’s heroes during the Rebellion of 1821. Admire the statues of King Constantine and Athena, as well as the monument dedicated to English, Australian and New Zealanders who died during the war. For a brief rest, sit on one of the benches under the natural shade of the trees and then go on with your stroll. The lighting of the park is adequate for walking in the evening.
A cycling network was created, after the restoration and embellishment of the park in 2010. Bicycle is ideal for offering a unique experience of exploring the city in the most affordable and enjoyable manner. Having the hotel as a starting point, you can go about in the city centre and sip a cup of coffee or indulge in shopping or simply discover the hidden beauty of the park. Those who love cycling can ask at our reception for further information regarding bicycle rental.

An alternative suggestion to your meal is to organize a picnic at the park. Find the time to relax and savour a light and healthy picnic. Get all the food you need from the hotel in a special lunch box and visit the park right across for a memorable meal surrounded by greenery.
Our hotel guests with young children can also visit the park’s playground. Moreover, you can find two Orthodox churches within the Field of Ares/ park with ample courtyard. Throughout the park there is accessibility for the disabled.
